I first noticed Calamityware on Kickstarter, where the line of imaginative China showing disastrous scenes painted in a traditional fashion was the perfect mix of "refined" and "ridiculous". Perfect!
I reached out to Don Moyer, the mad genius illustrator and founder of Calamityware, asking if he'd be interested in designing a pair of socks. He was!
We spent some weeks going back and forth through a number of iterations of various themes, before finally deciding that "robot apocalypse" was a perfect pattern - at once both "serious" and "surreal". Don quickly adapted to the artwork style needed to build out our hosiery patterns - and the result is one of our favorite new designs.
Please welcome "Robot Uprising", a fun pattern of angry robots parading around your ankles. Crafted at a 3rd generation hosiery mill in Colombia out of fine Peruvian Pima cotton, these socks sheathe your feet in sophistication, while shouting that you aren't just part of the machine!
Available in both casual mid-calf, or dapper over-the-calf styles.
Thanks Don!
Best,
Ryan
